Circle X Ranch, Grotto Trailhead

Probably my favorite trail in the Los Angeles area. It’s a 2.8-mile out-and-back hike tucked into the canyons behind northern Malibu. The trail descends gradually into the canyon, which means the return is a steady incline—making it feel more moderate despite the shorter distance. There’s plenty of water along the way, and after a bit of bouldering near the end, you’re rewarded with the grotto waterfall. Once you're back at your car, take the canyon back down to PCH and go to Neptunes Net for lunch <3
